Rachel Clark - textile artist
Artist Statement
Rachel Ivy Clarke is a conceptual artist and researcher based in Syracuse, New York working at the intersection of information science, design, and textile arts. She draws on her previous professional experience as a graphic artist, a librarian, and a tenured professor of information studies to humanize clinical data and surface perspectives that have traditionally been reduced or erased.
Her artwork has been featured at the Everson Museum of Art, the International Quilt Festival, and AQS Quilt Week, and supported by multiple sources, including the New York State Council on the Arts, the QSOS James Ardis Fellowship from the Quilt Alliance, the Barbara Deming Memorial Fund, and CNY Arts. Her large scale patchwork “When There Are 100” won First Place at Fantastic Fibers 2026 at the Yeiser Art Center.
Clarke holds a BA in creative writing from California State University Long Beach, an MLIS from San Jose State University, and a PhD in information science from the University of Washington.
