Artist Statement

I often say, "I paint my world." My inspiration comes from the people, places, traditions, and everyday moments that give shape and meaning to our lives.

Working primarily in watercolor, I am interested in the ways ordinary objects, shared rituals, and familiar places become vessels for memory and connection. Whether it's a garden tended through the seasons, friends gathered around a table, or a quiet landscape, these seemingly mundane moments often tell the most meaningful stories.

While my work is rooted in observation, my goal is not simply to record what I see. I strive to capture the feeling of a moment: the warmth of friendship, the comfort of belonging, the passage of time, and the beauty found in daily life. Through color, light, and atmosphere, I hope to create paintings that invite viewers to pause, reflect, and appreciate the moments, relationships, and rituals that enrich our lives.

Artistic Process

My paintings often begin with an idea, a memory, or a connection to a subject. Through sketches and studies, I explore shape, value, color, and composition while developing the visual and emotional qualities that first drew me to it.

A daily painting practice encourages observation, experimentation, and growth. I frequently return to the same subject multiple times, finding that each painting reveals something new. Returning to a subject again and again often leads to the development of a series, allowing me to gain a deeper understanding of the subject and uncover new layers of meaning and connection.

Whether painting en plein air or in the studio, my goal is to create work that captures not only what is seen, but also what is felt and remembered.
