Artist Statement

I am a licensed mental health counselor by training and a fiber artist by nature. I have been crocheting for many years and have fallen in love with spinning, knitting, weaving, and felting; making felted scarves, soaps, and accessories, in particular. I am passionate about making something that really speaks to those who purchase my pieces.

I live with my family in an old Victorian farmhouse. We have an antique sewing table in our kitchen that functions as an island and has become the perfect vehicle on which to create my work. Every time I begin a new piece, I feel the history of the table is inspiring the design and believe the history of our home has contributed to my artistic development as well. Our rural country setting lends itself to creating graceful and stylish pieces of wearable art that bring

happiness to the person who wears them. I often think how fortunate I am to facilitate the healing process with people in my professional work and to bring joy through my art. The past many years, from learning to crochet to felting have been a wonderful journey of self-discovery and I look forward to where I will go next. You never know, there may be some sheep or an alpaca or two in the backyard someday.
