Elaine Haynes - jewelry maker

Artist Statement

I've been making jewelry about twenty-three years. I've always been fascinated with the natural world and creating things. I started drawing at a very early age, then as a teenager, I learned to sew and started designing my own clothes. Later, as a young mother, my love of color and natural forms found expression in watercolor painting, photography, and pottery. In 2001 I started making beaded jewelry. My interests expanded to incorporating wire work in my designs and by 2009 I began working with fine silver and fusing techniques. Today, I offer handmade jewelry that combines semi-precious stones, hand-worked sterling silver, fine silver, and gold-filled wire as well as brass and copper.

I received a B. A. degree from Utica College of Syracuse University and studied art at Munson-Williams School of Art.
