Marie Henry - fabric artist

Artist Statement

I love fabric and fibers. As the prior owner of Cazenovia Fabrics, my focus is quilting. My quilting endeavors have evolved from patchwork to painting with fabrics to create one-of-a-kind art quilts. I also am a huge proponent of recycled, reclaimed materials, especially textiles. My felted mittens created from recycled sweaters and other woolens are essential for Cazenovia winters.

Artistic Process

My art process begins with the materials. Finding the right color and texture of the fabrics to incorporate into a work is the first step. Often the materials will define the work. I enjoy the selection and placement of just the right colors to make an art statement. Thread work is also critical to accentuate the piece. Most of my quilt work is done by machine.
